The Trial and Sacrifice of Prophet Ibrahim (AS)

Allah the Almighty put Prophet Ibrahim (AS) through a great trial. Allah commanded him to sacrifice his son, Prophet Ismail (AS). Prophet Ibrahim (AS) accepted this difficult command for the sake of Allah’s pleasure and prepared for the sacrifice. When he moved the knife, Allah sent an angel with a ram, which was sacrificed in place of Prophet Ismail. This great event is commemorated until the Day of Judgment through animal sacrifice, and on the occasion of Eid ul-Adha, Muslims around the world follow this Sunnah. This story is the highest example of trust in Allah and obedience.
