The Punjab Government has officially announced the return of the historic Lahore Basant Festival in 2027 after years of ban. The three-day kite-flying festival will be celebrated on 12th, 13th, and 14th March 2027, from Friday to Sunday.
According to the official notification issued today, the decision was taken in a high-level meeting chaired by the Punjab Chief Minister. The government said strict safety SOPs will be implemented to ensure a secure celebration.
Key Points:
1. Dates: 12 March `Friday`, 13 March `Saturday`, 14 March `Sunday` 2027
2. Venue: All across Lahore, with main events at Jallo Park & Greater Iqbal Park
3. Safety Rules: Only government-approved chemical-free `dor` allowed. Metallic/glass-coated thread banned.
4. Timing: Kite flying permitted from 4 PM to 12 AM only.
5. Aerial firing, one-wheeling banned. Section 144 to be imposed.
The Punjab government said Basant will boost tourism and local business. A special Basant Committee will monitor all arrangements.
Lahore Police and Rescue 1122 will be on high alert during all three days.
