The basic cost of one liter of petrol is Rs 197.69 paise, but currently the price per liter is fixed at Rs 327.62 paise. However, citizens are forced to pay a total of Rs 130.23 paise on one liter of petrol, while Rs 116 on one liter of high-speed diesel in levy, tax and margins.

Petrol includes Rs 80 petroleum levy, Rs 5 climate support levy, Rs 21.24 customs duty, Rs 7.48 inland freight equalization margin, Rs 7.87 oil marketing companies’ margin and Rs 8.64 dealers’ margin.

Similarly, the basic cost of one liter of high-speed diesel is Rs 264.76 paise, while its price is fixed at Rs 380.86 paise per liter.
