Food Safety & Consumer Protection Dept sets rates for Market Committee Lahore; Citizens urged to report overcharging
LAHORE: The Food Safety & Consumer Protection Department, Government of Punjab, has issued the official rate list for essential food items including chicken, fruits, and vegetables for Monday, August 17, 2026.
The rates, issued by the Market Committee Lahore and PAMRA, cover all major markets in the city. Key rates include: Live Farm Chicken at Rs 330/kg, Broiler Chicken Meat at Rs 519/kg, Farm Eggs at Rs 236/dozen, Apple Kala Rs 40-38/kg, Onion Rs 160-150/kg, Tomato Rs 220-205/kg, and Potato Rs 35-32/kg.
Officials have warned that selling above the notified rates is illegal. The original rate list, priced at Rs 20, is mandatory for shops to display. Photocopies will not be accepted.
Citizens facing overcharging or refusal to sell at official rates can register complaints at the DC Control Room number 0307-0002345 or via the toll-free helpline 0800-02345. Complaints can also be lodged through official social media channels.
The department stated that strict action will be taken against profiteers and hoarders. Inspection teams are active across Lahore to ensure compliance.
