Syeda Tuba Anwar, the ex-wife of Dr. Amir Liaquat Hussain, has clarified that she has legally divorced her husband.
In her message on Twitter, Tuba Anwar said that she had resorted to court to divorce her ex-husband as it was her constitutional right as a Pakistani citizen. Honorable Court granted divorce under the laws of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
She further said that whatever is being claimed or being said in the media is contrary to the facts which have no place in the court of law. She will appeal to the Ulema to speak out for women who exercise their rights under Sharia and the Constitution of Pakistan.
Tuba Anwar further said that Islam allows women to end a poisonous and violent marriage in a dignified manner if the marriage is not going on, it is not a sin but a right.
It may be recalled that earlier Amir Liaquat Hussain had repeatedly claimed that he had not divorced Tuba. He also said in a recent interview that his marriage was not over. Because they did not divorce Tuba, they have asked for khula and for khula both parties have to agree but I have not gone to court so it will be called khula but there will be no shariah khula and if Tuba would marry somewhere else If so, it will be an illegitimate marriage.
