The house was locked from the outside and the newlyweds were set on fire

In the Indian state of Bengal, unknown assailants locked several houses at night and set them on fire, killing eight people, including a newlywed couple and two children. According to India Today, the horrific incident took place in Bugtoi village in Birbham district of West Bengal.

The bride and groom are identified as Qazi Sajid and Lily Khatun, who were married a month and a half ago. Qazi Sajid belonged to the nearby village of Nanwar and he had come with his bride to his in-laws, Bugtoi. The two were sleeping in the room at night when someone locked the room from outside and set the house on fire.

According to the report, at midnight, Sajid called his friend Majim in Nanwar and told him, “Someone locked our room from outside and set it on fire. You call the police.” Told about When his father tried to contact him, Sajid’s phone was found switched off. The next morning, the burnt bodies of the bride and groom were removed from the burnt rubble of the house. According to police, more than 12 houses of the village were set on fire.

The state government has formed a three-member special investigation team headed by ADG, CID Gyawant Singh to probe the incident. The Union Home Ministry has also demanded a report on the incident within 72 hours.
